transitioning, working out, and rambling

I haven't written in a while for a few reasons. I have been busy with life, and all that entails. Not a good excuse but its the truth. I also have been reading other people's blogs and have been inspired by their stories but I also felt that my personal struggle wasn't that different. Why write just to write? I'm not one of those people who likes to talk just to hear my voice. But I do use writing to work through issues, problems or just to get my thoughts in order.
So, after a week or so I am back. Like I said, I have been reading a bunch. My Hubbs is going through transition so we are both learning how you do that and how to do it right. I will be starting my transition in a couple of weeks.
That's a side note I haven't talked about in a while. Ok, so I didn't hit my secret weight but I am healthy and honestly, deeply happy where I am at. So I am going to give my body one more chance to loose a couple more pounds. For the past few weeks I have been floating at the same weight, only going up or down at about a pound here or there. So I think my body likes this weight. But in two weeks I am going to start officially transitioning too. So May 1st is going to be my end date of being on plan in the loosing weight mode.
If we were a normal family and we weren't moving in 6 weeks then I would be staying on plan till I got that magical number. But with the move and all that goes into that I need to focus my priorities (and my money) in that direction.

So I think from here on out I will be recapping what goes on with transition. I don't know how much time I will have to dedicate to writing on this blog but I am sure I can let you know how my week went and what was new with the transition week.

I am also going to try to get my newest recipes up on the site this week. I have three or four that need to go up. It took me a few weeks to tweak them to where my family really likes them.

I have been changing up my workout too. Well I took a week off last week, and my body is rather upset with me because of it. But I have been walking my dogs every other day. We make it about a mile or so. The weather has gotten nicer and that makes it even more fun to take them out.
I still rock my wii fit. I love that program. It really is like goofing off and calling it working out. :0) My serious workouts are from the "10 minute solution" programs. I have netflix's so there are about 5 different versions of it on there. I switch them up and try to do them about 3 times a week. A few of them are considered weight training so you aren't supposed to do them each day. You have to let you muscles recoup in between workouts. I really like them. They are quick and if I don't have an hour to give to the program I can do half of it and still feel like I got some good work done.

I want to congratulate my Hubby!! He hit his goal weight, and has gone past it!! He worked hard at being good and the extra weight just melted off his body. He looks amazing and has more energy. He said he really likes this way of life and will work to do it for the rest of his life. I am so proud of him.!!

Happy Easter!

I hope everyone had a blessed Easter!! We had a lovely time. The girls found eggs, we talked about the real reason for this holiday. We made colored eggs and sugar cookies (which the Hubbs and I promptly ate, but that's another blog). We ended up taking a drive, it was a lovely spring day. The dogs came with and we ended up at a French battlefield in Yorktown. It was a fun little walk. Of course the girls and I weren't dressed, or shoe'd, for taking a hike but it was still fun searching for flowers.
Our dogs are a big part of our lives and we love to have them with us as much as possible. But it does present a problem, we get stopped all the time. Questions are asked, petting ensues, and I always feel like I am pushing the boundaries of rudeness as I usher my family back into whatever we were doing before we were stopped. So, there were more scenic places to stop and walk through but this one was all ours. We got to walk the full length of it, listen to Hubbs tell us the story behind what happened there and made it almost back to our car before we got stopped. :0) All in all a very enjoyable day. Hope yours was as sunny and blessed as ours.

moving, diets, worries and kids

Sorry I haven't written in a while. I have been struggling with personal stuff and feel like I have wandered off my path a little. But I am back!
As many of you know my family is going to be making a cross country move in a couple of months. This presents a bunch of problems in different aspects of our lives. I am concerned about my oldest, her school work, her medication (I blogged about it on my family site here). I worry about incomes, housing, and setting up house all over again, diets and weight gain. This has put a damper on my happy scale and who wants to read about me complaining? I don't even want to write about that, lol.
One aspect of the move that is rather worrisome is how it will affect my plan (TSFL that is) and my hubbies plan. He is so close to his goal, I'm sure he will hit it in the next week or two and then he will start to transition right away. That would put him on the tail end of transition, if everything goes according to plan, right when we move.
Now we all know that the best set plans always go out the window when on a move or vacation. This will be both. Since its going to take us over a week to drive to our next home, we are going to try to take a slower approach and stop to see national monuments and the biggest ball of yarn, those kinds of things. He is nervous about gaining his weight back and I cant blame him. He worked hard to get where he is now. But unfortunately we cant afford to have us both on plan after we move.
That brings me to my plan, well I am about 6 pounds from my goal. But I continue to hit plateau after plateau. I should have, if things ran smoothly, reached my goal a few weeks ago. I hope to reach my goal within the next month. But as I haven't "cheated" since I started this journey I'm not sure if that will happen that quickly. I am ok, if we get closer to the move, and I haven't reached my goal. If I stay at this weight for the rest of my life and lead a happy, healthy and active lifestyle I will feel this was well worth doing. Of course, I would love to see that magic number on the scale, who wouldn't? But its not the end of the world for me if I don't. So, that being said I have to make a cut off date so I can start transitioning before we move. I am really worried I will gain all my weight back while we move, then cant afford to go back on plan and will just be fat again, sigh...
I am hopeful it will all work out in the end. I trust that God will walk in front of us and get us safely to our next home, he will get us an income, and he will slap my hand when I reach for that cookie while on the road so I don't gain back what I have worked so hard to loose. :0)
Want to leave you with a picture I just love! It is of a couple of tree's outside my daughters school last week. So pretty!! Happy Spring Everyone!

Cinderella made it to the ball!

The ball has come and gone. It was magical, fun and well, every girly girl's dream come true! I had a blast, my hubby had fun too. I really think he would have been just as happy sitting at home eating pizza, but this was a once in a lifetime deal. He is off the hook now, lol.
My neighbor was sweet enough to watch the kiddies for us and they had a blast playing with the other kids. They both raved about using chopsticks to eat their dinner, now it seems I will need to come up with a few sets for them.
My hubby looked so handsome!! I'm a little partial, but really. He was HOT! He said it was ok to post a couple of pictures of him on this blog, so I will add them later.
I managed to get ready in about 3 hours. My hair worked out nicely. It wasn't what I had originally planned to do, but I think it complimented the feel of the vintage vibe of the dress. The dress didn't fall apart either!! yippee, I'm always secretly worried that something will just pop off. But everything held together and stayed where it should. I got alot of compliments on the dress. I was the only person wearing anything close to vintage and definitely was the only one not wearing a prom style dress. My husband was surprised, and I have to say I was slightly disappointed, at how inappropriate some women were dressed. This wasn't an evening to show off your goods, it is an evening to support and celebrate our soldiers.
The venue was pretty. It was held at the big convention center out here. It was packed, I honestly didn't think that so many people would be attending. From our estimation there was somewhere from 600-800 guests! Most were higher ranking or officers and their significant others.  There was a lovely band that played during cocktail hour (which you had to pay for, lol). During dinner there was toast after toast after toast. Not even kidding. Even before we had a bite of food there were 6 toasts that we HAD to use wine for, it was rude to not use alcohol for those toasts... the Army does like to start things off right away! Now remember, Hubbs and I haven't had any alchy for a while, we are both on TSFL. So there was a serious buzz right off the bat. lol.. good thing that there were another 3 hours of speeches and toasts still to come.
Alright to the prep work. I did end up rag rolling my hair (I have pictures and could do a tutorial on how I do it, comment below and let me know if you would like to see that). I pulled my hair back into a french twist and just hated how it looked, so for about 20 minutes I just pulled and pinned, then took out my hair. I finally felt that leaving a few strands down on the side and then pulling the rest back looked the best. My bangs were the worst, I ended up curling them and teasing them, then rolling them into a fake victory roll. Again it was totally by accident but the final outcome was pleasant. I used the flower pins (left over from the dress flowers) and then hairspayed till everything felt like cement. There is nothing worse than hair falling down halfway through the evening!

*These are pre make-up, so no judging!! lol)*

My dress you already know about from previous entries (here, and here, oh and here). My earrings I picked up on clearance at Kohl's, my shoes are "michael" and I got them at broadway shoes. My wrap is vintage mink and my bag is vintage. That's most everything that I had on me.
So now for the fun part, pictures!!!

Here it is, finished makeup, dress and hair. I wore my bolero for most of the evening (it seemed inappropriate to show too much skin, even though I was the only woman there not doing it)

We took a couple fun ones. My hubby requested these and they are totally his idea, but I have to admit, I had fun taking them. (do you see his face??? he is loving it!)

And last but not least, the pictures of us together. Told you he looked hot!! The car isn't ours, Hubbs insisted that I take a picture in front of it. :0) The evening turned wet, windy and cold. So I am glad I planned ahead and had my stole with me.

Hope you enjoyed the trip into our evening out. Please feel free to comment below and let me know what you think!
